We eat lots of pinto beans in the house + OMT! loves easy = y’all see where this is headed.

I have shared my easiest pinto bean recipe with you and today, I’m offering a delicious variation: pinto beans cooked with a ham bone.

~faint~

My favorite way to make dem pintos is in a slow cooker, especially in the heat of the summer.  The house stays cool and you have a delicious meal at the end of the day. All that’s missing is corn bread.  Mmmm, corn bread….

For Easter, I made a spiral ham and saved the bone.

I tossed it in a ziplock bag and threw it in the freezer, knowing there would come a day that was too hot to cook.

The Deets:

Place bone in pot, fill with your washed beans, water and picante sauce, then cook.  When the beans are done, strip the meat off the bone (try not to eat all of it!), add some bread and a cold drink and you’ve got a nutritious, packed-full-o’taste meal.

Seconds, please!
